Connecting API Providers
Learn how to connect Silkware to your favorite AI model providers.
To start chatting with AI models, you first need to connect Silkware to at least one API provider. Silkware supports various providers such as OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Nebius, and local Ollama instances.
Steps to Connect a Provider

Open the Providers Menu: In the main chat view, click the Providers button located next to the model selection dropdown.

Select a Provider to Configure: A modal will appear listing all supported providers. Click the Configure button next to the provider you wish to add (e.g., Google).

Enter Your Credentials: In the configuration modal, you will need to provide:
- API URL: This is often pre-filled with the provider's default endpoint.
- API Token: Paste your unique API key from the provider's dashboard.

Test the Connection: Click the Test Connection button to verify that Silkware can successfully communicate with the provider using your credentials. You should see a "Connection successful" message.

Save the Configuration: Once the connection is verified, click Save.
Your provider is now connected! Silkware will automatically fetch the available models from this provider, which you can then manage and use in your chats.
