Welcome to Silkwave Voice. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our macOS application ("App"). Our core principle is simple: your data is yours. Silkwave Voice uses Apple's on-device speech-to-text models for transcription, meaning your audio never leaves your computer.
Information We Do Not Collect
We (Silkwave developers) do not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal information to our own servers. This includes:
- Your name, email address, or any other personal identifiers.
- Your audio recordings or transcripts.
Device Permissions
To provide its core functionality, Silkwave Voice may request access to specific features on your macOS device. You can revoke these permissions at any time in your System Settings.
- Microphone: Used solely for recording your voice when you initiate a voice note or transcription. The microphone is never active without your explicit action.
- System Audio (Screen Recording): Used solely to capture audio playing on your computer (e.g., from a browser or meeting) for the purpose of transcription. We do not record or analyze video content from your screen, only the audio stream.
- Shortcuts Events: Used to run the AI summarization feature via macOS Shortcuts. This permission allows the App to invoke the Silkwave Voice AI Assistant shortcut for generating summaries.
Information Handled by the App
- Audio & Transcription Data: Silkwave Voice uses Apple's on-device speech-to-text models for transcription. Your audio data remains strictly on your device and is processed locally. Your audio files never leave your computer and are never sent to any external servers.
- AI Summarization Data: When you use the AI Summarization feature, the text of your transcript is shared with ChatGPT through Apple Intelligence's ChatGPT extension via macOS Shortcuts. Only the transcript text is sent - your original audio is never uploaded. This only occurs when you choose to generate a summary, and is subject to Apple's and OpenAI's respective privacy policies.
Data Storage
All your data-including audio recordings and transcripts-is stored exclusively on your local device. If you delete the App, this data will be removed.
Children's Privacy
Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
