App Settings
Customize Silkwave Chat by managing providers, models, appearance, and title generation from one dialog.
All app-wide configuration lives in the Settings dialog. To open it, click the Settings button at the bottom of the left sidebar.
The dialog is organized into four sections, accessible from its own sidebar:
General
- Theme: Choose how the app looks.
- System: Automatically syncs with your operating system's light or dark mode setting.
- Light: Forces the app to always use the light theme.
- Dark: Forces the app to always use the dark theme.
- Launch at Login: Toggle whether Silkwave Chat starts automatically when you log in to your Mac.
Providers
Configure the AI providers you want to chat with. Cloud providers (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Nebius) require you to supply your own API key; local providers (Apple Intelligence, Ollama) run entirely on your Mac.

Browse models available from your connected providers, see their capabilities (text, images, audio, video), and mark favorites for quick access.

Title Generation
Silkwave Chat automatically names each new chat based on its opening messages. This section is informational - it lists the pre-selected models used for title generation per provider, chosen for the best balance of speed, cost, and quality:
