Introduction

Silkwave Video turns a YouTube link into a transcript you can read, search, and ask questions about. The video is downloaded and transcribed on your Mac using Apple's on-device speech-to-text models. Nothing is uploaded.

Capabilities

• Import from a link - watch, youtu.be, and Shorts URLs.
• On-device transcription in 10 languages, offline.
• Speaker identification - who said what, on-device, on by default.
• AI summaries via Apple Intelligence and ChatGPT. No API key.
• AI chat - follow-up questions, history saved per video.
• Synced playback - the transcript follows the video as it plays.
• Search across every transcript.
• Export as a zip of audio, transcript, and summary.

Privacy

Downloading and transcription are local. The AI features send transcript text to ChatGPT through Apple Intelligence, only when you ask - never the audio or video.

Requirements

• macOS 26 or later, Apple Silicon

Silkwave Video is distributed outside the Mac App Store and updates itself.
