Importing
- Paste the link.
- Choose the transcription language.
- Decide whether to Download video. Leave it off to fetch audio only, which is smaller and faster when you just want the transcript.
- Click Transcribe.
Audio is fetched first and transcription begins as soon as it lands, so the transcript fills in while the video is still downloading. A long video is readable before the download finishes.
If the language you picked has no model installed, the dialog says Language Not Installed and offers Manage Languages to download it.
When an Import Fails
YouTube periodically changes how it serves video, which breaks the downloader. It is sealed inside the signed app bundle, so the fix ships as a full app update - Silkwave Video checks for one immediately when an import fails. Accept the update and retry the link. See Updating.
Otherwise, check that the video is not private, members-only, or region-blocked, and that a live stream has finished and been published.
