AI Summarization
Structured summaries through Apple Intelligence and ChatGPT, with no API key.
Summaries run through Apple Intelligence and the ChatGPT extension via a macOS Shortcut. No API key, no subscription, no per-request cost.
Requirements
- macOS 26 or later, Apple Silicon
- Apple Intelligence enabled - System Settings ▸ Apple Intelligence & Siri
- The ChatGPT extension enabled in the same pane
- The Silkwave Video AI shortcut installed
- Shortcuts Events permission
Settings ▸ AI Integration Shortcut checks each of these and links to the relevant System Settings pane for any that fails.
Installing the Shortcut
The shortcut ships inside the app.
- In Settings ▸ AI Integration Shortcut, click Install Shortcut.
- Click Open with Shortcuts in the top right of the preview.
- Click Add Shortcut.
The panel then reads Silkwave Video AI Shortcut installed.
Updating the Shortcut
The shortcut carries a version in its name. When a release needs a newer one, the panel reads Silkwave Video AI Shortcut update required and the button becomes Update Shortcut. Same three steps.
Generating a Summary
Summarize from the video's detail view once transcription finishes. Auto Summarization in Settings ▸ General does it as part of the import instead.
What Gets Sent
Transcript text only. Audio and video are never uploaded. The summary is stored with the video and exports as summary.md.
